Advances in Analysis of Brassinosteroids Based on Solid Phase Extraction-Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry

  • Brassinosteroids (BRs) are an important class of plant hormone that are involved in the regulation of various physiological processes of plants. Determining the content of BRs in different plant tissues is helpful to the further understanding of its mechanism. Due to the low endogenous content and the complexity of plant matrix, the quantitative analysis of BRs is a challenge. With the development of solid phase extraction (SPE) and its derivatization methods (such as solid phase microextraction, magnetic solid phase extraction, etc.), and chromatography-mass spectrometry, the sample pretreatment efficiency of BRs has been significantly improved, the amount of demand for plant samples is reduced, and the accuracy of qualitative and quantitative analysis is enhanced. The progress of SPE with chromatography-mass spectrometry in the detection of BRs in recent 10 years is reviewed in order to provide guidance for the sensitive and efficient analysis.
