Spectrophotometric Determination of NO2- with 5-Br-PADAP and SCN-

Abstract
The ion association system of protonated 2-(5-bromo-2-pyridylazo)-5-diethylaminophenol (5-Br-PADAP) SCN- and NO2- inH2SO4 medium was studied. The molar absorptivity is 2.4×104 L/(mol·cm) and the composition ratio of n((5-Br-PADAP):n(NO2-):n(SCN-) is 1:1:1. The method can be used for determining trace NO2- in waters.
