Analysis of PCBs in Environmental Samples by GC-MS

Polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs)are a class of chlorinated hydrocarbon compounds with high chemical stability.Since PCBs do not readily degrade in the environment and threaten the health of human beings by bioaccumulation through food chain,they have become one of the most important contamination compounds in the world. Solid p hase ext raction and GC-MS were used to determine PCBs in water samples.Meanwhile PCBs in various soil samples and plant samples were analyzed by supersonic ext raction and GC-MS.Simple sample pret reatment,good recovery and reappearance have been proved.The data available here have showed that certain PCBs exist in various soils.Higher concent ration of PCBs present in some polluted samples.Water quality and plants were threatened by soil pollution.
