A Spectrophotometric Method for the Determination of Trace Palladium(Ⅱ)

  • Palladium(Ⅱ) reacts with methyl violet and potassium bromide in the presence of NH3 to form a violet complex. The ion-association complex exhibits maximum absorption at 580 nm with an apparent molar absorptivity of 2.4×105 L/(mol·cm). Beer's law is obeyed in the range of 100~800 μg/L for Palladium(Ⅱ). The method is easy to operation and highly sensitive. It has been applied for the determination of Palladium(Ⅱ) in samples with satisfactory results.
