Determination of Fipronil Residues in Tea

  • A rapid determination method of fipronil residues in tea by gas chromatography was developed. Fipronil residues in tea were extracted with an acetone and hexane mixture, an neutral alumina column was used to remove impurities, Constant volume of the a acetone and hexane mixture was carried out and determined by gas chromatography (GC-μECD) using the external standard method. Tests of recovery were made by the addition of fipronil standard to several portions of tea samples at the concentration range of 0.000 80~0.008 00 mg/kg, and the values of recovery found were in the range of 74.9%~116.8%. The detection limit of method was 0. 000 80 mg/kg, and the values of RSDs found were in the range of 0.94%~11.10%.This method can satisfy the requirement of the export inspection of Chinese tea to Japan.
