Rapid Determination of Bisphenol A in Beverage in Plastics Packing Materials by Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry

  • A method for the determination of bisphenol A (BPA) residues in beverage in plastics packing materials has been developed using the ultra performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometric (UPLC-MS/MS). Bisphenol A was enriched from the beverage sample in a SEP-PAR C18 column and eluted with methanol. Chromatographic separation was carried out on a Acquity UPLCTM BEH C18 column, with methanol-water solution as the mobile phase with gradient elution. The mass spectrometer was operated in the negative ion mode using multiple reaction monitoring (MRM).Under optimal conditions, the limit of detection was 0.5 μg/L, and the recovery was in the range of 92.4%~98.4% with a relative standard deviation(RSD) of less than 8.4%.
