Retention Equation and Volume of Mobile Phase

Starting from the retention equation of solute, the volume of mobile phase inside liquid phase chromatographic column, V_m, and its various measuring methods have been discussed. With the absolute adsorption isotherm of ACN on C₈ bonded phase, the limitation of these measuring methods has been evaluated.
