Determination of Seven Metal Elements in Lotus Seed and Plumula Nelambinis by Atomic Absorption Spectrometry

  • The content of seven metal elements in Lotus seed and Plumula Nelambinis from 6 different growing areas were determined by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry(FASS). Lotus seed and Plumula Nelambinis were ground and dried, and then were digested by mixtures of HNO3 and HClO4 by wet digestion.The contents of Fe、Mn、Zn、Cu、Cr、Pb and Cd were determined by FAAS. Lotus seed and Plumula Nelambinis contained a lot of trace elements such as Fe、Mn、Zn、Cu and Cr, whereas harmful elements Pb and Cd were not detected. The recovery and relative standard deviation of these metal elements were 98.58%~101.53% and 0.78%~1.89% respectively. The established method is simple,rapid and accurate. It is a reliable method for the determination of metal elements in Lotus seed and Plumula Nelambinis.
